reelektronika is developing and testing new eLoran-based navigation equipment to be used by pilots. These instruments are the backup if GNSS is not available due to intentional or unintentional interferences. Continuity of service is of prime safety interest at the Port of Rotterdam. GNSS cannot guarantee this continuity sufficiently, so backup systems are needed. eLoran is a robust alternative for such applications.
The Dutch Pilots’ Corportation provides the ships to carry out measurements on the fairways to the Port of Rotterdam. The newest pilot ship Polaris, recently christened by Queen Beatrix, is now used for measurements and tests.
This project is presented in the Dec-2012 issue of Navigator NL which can be downloaded fromwww.loodswezen.nl
reelektronika delivered all ASF measuring equipment to the General Lighthouse Authorities of the UK and Ireland. Further, a reelektronika eLoran receiver is in use for tests onboard the ferry Spirit of Britain.
reelektronika started the delivery of its new robust integrated E-field eLoran/GPS antenna, type Loradd-A-E2, which can be used with all reelektronika Loradd receivers. Although the antenna is small, its reception performance is excellent and matches that of the reelektronika integrated H-field eLoran/GPS antenna.
